The Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, his
Kano State counterpart, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, deputy governors from six
states in Nigeria as well as other dignitaries attended a book launch today in
Owerri in honor of Prince Eze Madumere.
The event which was held at the Concorde hotels
Owerri attracted guests from within and outside Imo state including members of
Civil Society groups, top political office holders and members of the press who
gathered to witness the launching of the book titled, ‘Eze Madumere: A True
Manifestation of a Loyal Prince’ written by Peter Cleaver Obi.
Speaking during the occasion, the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha said that the occasion was designed to give honor to whom honor is due, adding that he regards Maumere as a colleague rather than a deputy. He said Madumere became a deputy governor not on account his incarceration during the campaign for the 2011 governorship election, but on account of his loyalty and dedication to duty.
Continuing, governor Okorocha disclosed that it is
up to 22 years since Eze Madumere began to work for him and in all that time,
he did not find any reason to question his loyalty and support.
He applauded the author for writing the book and
thanked the guests for honoring the invitation.
Speaking earlier, the Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje described the book as a testimony of the revolution taking place in Imo. He described Governor Rochas Okorocha as a bridge builder and a detribalized Nigerian who has labored hard to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in Nigeria.
He congratulated Prince Madumere for being a loyal
servant and also congratulated Rochas for having confidence in Madumere.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Niyi Michael Akintola (SAN) described Prince Eze Madumere as a man of uncommon principle who put his life on the line to ensure that he achieves success.
The book which has 186 pages gave account of the
Prince Madumere’s background, his sojourn in politics, his speeches and
interviews, his contributions towards the promotion of sports and charity as
well as his achievements in office.
In his closing remarks, Prince Eze Madumere disclosed that his first meeting with the author was the day the author presented him the scripts of the book for approval and publication. He thanked his master, Governor Rochas Okorocha for his guidance and encouragement and expressed appreciation to the guests that graced the occasion.
Also present at the occasion were the Imo State first lady, Ugo Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha; the Kano State first lady, Dr.(Mrs.) Hafsatu Umar Ganduje and the deputy governors of Oyo, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara . Others are the members of the Imo State House of Assembly, Commissioners, Transition Committee Chairmen and the book reviewer, Professor Joseph Ahaneku.
The book presenter, Mr Alex Mbata was represented by Mr. Dan Ikpeazu who donated the sum of one million naira to support the book launch.
